Add Page Numbers to PDF — Automatically Number Every Page

StayPDF's Page Numbers tool stamps page numbers across an entire PDF in one pass. Get long reports, contracts, or meeting handouts ready to print or distribute without manually editing each page.

All processing happens inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. Number internal documents and contracts without exposing them. Free, no account, no installation.

What this tool can do

  • Add numbers to every page in one step
  • Position freely (top/bottom, left/center/right)
  • Customize format: "1", "1/10", "Page 1", and more
  • Adjust font size and starting number
  • Fully local — files stay in your browser

How to add page numbers

  1. Choose a PDF: Drag and drop your PDF, or use the file picker.
  2. Configure: Pick position, format, font size, and starting number.
  3. Apply and save: Click the button — the numbered PDF is generated locally and downloaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can I exclude the cover page?

Set the starting number to 0 to push numbering back by one. For full control, separate the cover with the Organize Pages tool, number the rest, and merge it back together.

Can I change the font?

The current version uses a default font. Numerals render in a Latin font; non-Latin labels use the matching system font.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All processing is local — that's the main thing that sets StayPDF apart from services like iLovePDF or SmallPDF.
